Prime Day 2020 – the day that almost wasn’t – is behind us. Here are a few of my thoughts:
• The Kindle books featured on Prime Day 1 were great selections; Prime Day 2 not so great.
• Audible’s deals during Prime Day were varied and a great price. Glad they joined the event.
• Amazon devices were selling at great prices too. Practically every reader, tablet, Alexa-enabled speaker, Ring security and more was on sale.
• Having the event in October and allowing most items to be returned in January may have spurred holiday shopping.
• Big vendors jumped on board giving coupons for multi-purchases. I bought a couple boxes of Bounce dryer sheets and saved $5.
• Amazon is pushing to be a big force in groceries and had some good deals. My husband snacks on dried cranberries so I grabbed two of these 3-pound bags of Ocean Spray Craisins for only $6.68 each. The price is still good today. For comparison, a 24-oz bag is $5.88.
If you had time to follow the lightning deals and look through the many categories, there were deals. My best deal was the $18 in credits for digital items because I passed on next-day shipping. Time to Kindle book shop!
Please tell us if you found great deals or if it was Prime Bust for you.
Love those credits! Since it’s “free money”, I feel better about splurging on non-essentials.
I only bought four items (far below my usual LOL). Two were for crafting (a highly-rated light box and a set of markers), third was an awesome set of socks (how very uninteresting!), and my last-minute purchase was a new alarm clock. Yes, I am a dinosaur who still uses an actual alarm clock. My current one is about 25 years old and still turns itself back to standard time too early because it was made before they changed the dates for the time changes! But my new one (arriving today) has USB ports for charging so I’m finally joining the current century. Wish I had taken the time to go through the food/grocery deals now that you talked about them. I’ve used Amazon Pantry once during this pandemic time and I was very impressed with the items and the prices. Have a great weekend!
Steve –
YES! Time to splurge on a book that I would not otherwise buy. Choosing one is the difficulty.

Donna C –
Your alarm clock is vintage and that’s a great thing. I have on my nightstand a radio-alarm that I have had longer than my husband – so more than 30 years. I don’t use it for an alarm except when I need to wake up at an unusually early time. I set it as a backup because I won’t just swipe it and go back to sleep. A tablet is my usual alarm.
I have learned from you where to do to find a few deals. I looked in the craft section and didn’t see anything on the first two pages that interested me. I glanced at the lightning deals to find the food goodies. I bought my husband a 30-pack of Grandma’s cookies for less than $10. I regret that I had to work my day job and couldn’t do all the searching I wanted!
The good news is that the next Prime Day is probably only nine months away!

Paula, I have spent multiple hours trying to find the best way to spend a free dollar. Something wrong with that picture. Perhaps even a bit obsessive, if I saw somebody else doing it.
Oh, Steve –
That is a perfect way to describe the situation! I have the same fault when it comes to spending Audible credits. I pour over my very long wish list, fretting I’ll make the wrong decision.
Amazing how we humans react some days.

But not you or me. *We* are doing just fine. It’s all those other people who are a bit off the path…
Indeed!
