Short Story Review: Risking that this was a digital advertisement I bought When First They Met by Debbie Macomber. Though very short, it is an endearing story of how a couple met and fell in love. The story is an introduction to Ms. Macomber’s new series, the first book releases August 14. Included in this 99 cent download is a very short excerpt from The Inn at Rose Harbor. My only comment was that I regret reading the book excerpt. Enjoy the short story, noodle on it for a few weeks, and only read the book excerpt if you must.
Now, in this original short story available exclusively as an eBook, Macomber shares a sneak peek into her new series set in Cedar Cove, which features Jo Marie, before she becomes the owner of the beloved Rose Harbor Inn.
From the moment Jo Marie sits next to Paul inside the Seattle Seahawks’ stadium, she feels a spark. Paul’s striking blue eyes and kind smile tell her that he’s someone special—different from any man she’s met before. When they
strike up a conversation, Jo Marie and Paul realize how much they have in common, yet there’s one thing keeping them from a fairy-tale ending: Paul is in the military and will ship out of Seattle within the next six weeks. As Jo Marie wonders if she should once again open her heart, she decides that, no matter the stakes, she can’t forgo her chance at true love.
Pre-order The Inn at Rose Harbor today for $12.99. Delivery is scheduled for August 14.

Highway robbery for 28 pages! It should be free. Money sucker!
A.Lewis –
I won’t disagree that it is an unreasonable price for 28 pages. The publisher is Ballantine and they just do not give anything away. Not having the story will not detract from the first novel in the series, though. And perhaps within the novel, all that is in this story is included at some point. Let’s hope so!

Do you have to be familiar with her Cedar Cove series to get the jist of this new book ?
April –
The good news is that you do not have to be familiar with Cedar Cove for this new series. Ms. Macomber explained in the forward of this short story that she had completed her Cedar Cove series and there was an outcry by Cedar Cove fans wanting to know more about the lives of the people in the town. When Ms. Macomber was developing this new series she needed a location for the story and thought, “Why not Cedar Cove?” She will apparently bring the people from the Cedar Cove series into this new series in a limited way to continue the lives of those characters for those who wanted more.
The Cedar Cove series has been bundled, but the first six books have had a “pricing under review” notice for months and you cannot purchase that set for the Kindle at this time.
Hope you enjoy the series!

I always check the page count out before I buy! If its not up there, I email the author to ask, especially with so many Indie books. I wished it was required that page count be posted with the book, like they can’t finish posting it without the page count. I did email Amazon to recommend that.
