For countless millennia, it has been explored only by those with a certain detachment from mundane reality, its strange seas navigated and its vast mountains climbed by philosophers, mystics, and poets. Well, those halcyon days are over, beatniks.
Johannes Cabal is coming.
Cabal, a necromancer of some little infamy, is employed by the mysterious Fear Institute to lead an expedition into the Dreamlands, an expedition to hunt and destroy the dread Phobic Animus, the font of terrors, the very source of all the world’s fear.

UK Daily Deal Repeats
I’ve groused before about our Kindle Daily Deal repeating books. The United Kingdom Daily Deal is even worse.
Tuesday, September 29, featured Tribune of Rome ($9.99 in the United States). The book was also included in the Daily Deal just 13 days earlier on September 16. Readers also had the chance to buy it on the February 22 Daily Deal. Three times in seven months. There’s no excuse, Amazon.
New Fire Tablets have shipped
The all-new Kindle Fire tablets began shipping yesterday. Has anyone received theirs yet? If so, let us know what you think of it.
According to the webpages, the $49.99 7″ model will be in stock October 26, while the 8″ HD and 10″ HD models are available now. My 7″ model is scheduled to arrive until October 22.
New look for recommendations
Have you seen the new look for recommendations? I use two different sign-ins at Amazon and this is the look of the recommendations that appears when logging in. Looks very Pinterest-y, doesn’t it?

My husband Tiger has taken on a few culinary projects in recent months. He confessed over the weekend while watching the tamale pie bake that eating was a lot more fun than cooking and waiting.
I downloaded Fix-It and Forget-It New Cookbook: 250 New Delicious Slow Cooker ($1.99) just for him. Tiger has chosen to prepare the Pork Roast and Sweet Sauerkraut entree next week. My niece and I will be making the Baked Ziti in the crock-pot soon.
Book Description: After years of developing and testing hundreds of recipes, Stage 2 of the successful series has launched with Fix-It and Forget-It NEW Cookbook, in full color.
If you want a lot of scare for little money, check out the supernatural murder mystery Tap,Tap (99 cents)
Book Description: What if your best friend started killing your worst enemies? For Roscoe Bird, this nightmare becomes a reality when an old childhood friend comes knocking at his door.
Peter Tummelier talks about past hurts and old enemies as if time has stood still. But when bodies start turning up, murdered in horrifying ways, suspicion is placed on Roscoe. And Roscoe knows the one person-the only person-who could have committed these deeds.
In the War of 1812, U.S. troops are battling the British on the Canadian border, even as a fierce fight is being waged against the Creek followers of the Indian leader Tecumseh and his brother, known as The Prophet. In Europe, Napoleon Bonaparte’s war has become a losing proposition, and the British are only months away from unleashing a frightening assault on Washington itself. Fateful choices are being made in the corridors of power and on the American frontier. As Andrew Jackson, backed by Cherokee warriors, leads a fierce attack on the Creek tribes, his young republic will soon need every citizen soldier it can find.
What if–at this critical moment–bonds were forged between men of different races and tribes? What if the Cherokee clans were able to muster an integrated front, and the U.S. government faced a united Indian nation bolstered by escaping slaves, freed men of color, and even influential white allies?
Through the remarkable adventures of men who were really there–men of mixed race, mixed emotions, and a singular purpose–The Rivers of War carries us in this new direction, brilliantly transforming an extraordinary chapter of American history.
