The First Christmas Carol weaves the timeless work of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” with the first documented Christmas story. Darkness cloaks the hills of Bethlehem, but pales in comparison to the black heart of a greedy, unscrupulous innkeeper, who unknowingly sets into motion a night of miracles the world will never forget.

Boston veterinarian Hayley Scampini tends the city’s pampered pets but dreams of the rural life of a country vet. She’s single and determined to stay that way, convinced that love isn’t permanent enough to trust. Then a vacation to the Whisper Creek dude ranch introduces her to Daniel McKee, a sexy single dad who runs the kind of veterinary practice she aspires to—and rattles her conviction to keep men at a distance.
Managing a thriving practice, coping with the loss of his wife, and fighting a custody battle with his in-laws over his twin daughters, Daniel couldn’t be more overwhelmed. Hayley is a godsend, accompanying him in the field and winning over his girls. It doesn’t take Daniel long to realize he’s falling for this woman, hard and fast. So before Hayley returns to Boston, he extracts a promise: that she will return to Whisper Creek for Christmas. It’s the perfect time and place to show Hayley that the promise of a beautiful life together is something she can believe in.

Changes to the Daily Deal
In previous Housekeeping columns I have expressed my dissatisfaction with the quality of the books offered in the Daily Deal. Even with the less-than-stellar quality of books, Amazon did take the time to present the Deals attractively with the featured book and deals in romance, non-fiction, sci-fi/fantasy and young adult. Each book included a snippet from a customer review.
Several weeks ago that nice presentation was dumped and the books were listed in a row with no classification, no review – just the book covers. Then more changes came.
This past week young adult and non-fiction titles haven’t been included most days. I’ve taken time to find a young adult book each day for the post.
This may be a foreshadowing of the end of the Daily Deal. Amazon is definitely putting less effort into the selections.
